What does being alone on Valentine’s Day feel like?

It feels like a Monday.
Coincidentally, Valentine’s Day falls on a Monday this year.
It feels like one of those when you wake up in the morning and decide to ignore your morning routine. No meditation/prayer, no workout.
It feels like a day when you open your eyes, grab your phone immediately and lay in one spot on your bed for almost one hour shuffling through WhatsApp, Instagram and Facebook.
Scrolling through videos and photos and tweets of people wishing their lovers a happy Valentine’s Day.
And of seemingly happy women and men showing off their Valentine’s gift from their lovers.
It feels like watching people’s being happy and being genuinely happy for them.
It feels like saying a little prayer for yourself while you silently celebrate other people’s love. With the hope that you’d be just as happy as they are next Valentine’s.
It feels like half wishing you’d get a gift too while trying to block out the not-so-great memories of past Valentine’s Days.
It feels like a Monday quite alright.
Just another Monday that can’t go by fast enough.
